1)Q:How do you protect the titanium from contamination by O,N,H and C during heating when make foring?
A:It must be,and the most effective way is by coating the forging slug in a liquid glaze or glass which will dry before heating for forging.The coating will melt at between 500~600 centigrade and form a sticky surface which protects the titanium from containation.The special coatings have properties of lubrication which help metal flow during forging.We have found that the addition of a liquid based graphite to the die surface will improves die life and metal flow further.
